Dan and the Statue of Christ

Dan Pogue's work is mostly cast in bronze, but sometimes uses mixed media. He has expert knowledge in all aspects of designing, molding, and casting as well as creating just the right patina for each bronze. He specializes in exotic patinas, and is constantly working on different colors to get the right effect for each sculpture. Dan's sculptures incorporate movement, emotion and grace in each piece.

Artists Statement:

I feel a deep need for release of creativity. I have been blessed with a God given talent that needs to be used to its fullest extent and not wasted. I use my art as a means to try and create order out of my own chaotic life, as the universe creates order out of chaos. My approach is to use my art as a spontaneous outlet. I like working with clay because it can be so quick and spontaneous. I make my own clay and can adjust its hardness depending on what I need to do with it. I like to let it flow from the subconscious and let the viewer decide what it means personally to them. It is intriguing to me to see what impact my sculpture has on others.

About the Sculptor - Dan Pogue:

He sculpts in clay at his studio, seven miles east of Marble Falls, Texas. They appear with great movement and expression. His designs continue to intrigue and delight the viewers. From 1970 until 2013, he has operated his own art bronze foundry. He also has a gallery where his sculpture is displayed.
